Christmas Piano Recital

Cole and Abbie are taking Piano lessons and they had a recital December 3rd. Abbie played Twinkle little star and God rest Ye merry Gentlemen. Cole played Angels we have heard on high and the Rockin' song.

We made snowmen for preschool last week. I found this cute idea on pinterest.

These kiddos love glue, scissors and markers. Sometimes they glue cut and color things I really don't want them to. But when they are busy on projects they do really well. It has been really fun to see them progress. Even Tave seems to be learning the letters. when I hold up flash cards He will say the letter before the girls sometimes.

I am Thankful for.........

Parents! In October my Mom and Dad took time out of their busy lives to come visit me and my family here in LaGrande. I am amazed at how they manage to visit all of their kids even though we are all so scattered and far away. From Boston Massachusetts to San Francisco all 7 of us are spread out yet Mom and Dad make special visits to all of us.

Lately I have been discouraged and overwhelmed with our house. It is tight quarters compared to our Afton House. Finding a place for everything has not been easy. My Mom spent lots of hours helping me organize and clean while she was here. She bought a bookshelf for Abbie's room. Now all the hundreds of kids books we had in boxes in our hall way are organized neatly and out of the way. No more tripping over boxes and books. Whooo hooo what a wonderful feeling. Abbie saved some money and bought her own bedspread just before Grandma and Grandpa came. Mom and I found a tablecloth at wal-mart that matched the bed spread and Mom cut it in half and sewed the edges to make curtains. We hung pictures and decorative shelves in Abbie's room plus clean and organized all of her things with Abbie's help. We also got several more pictures hung up and Mom helped me make curtains for my Bedroom as well. Dad entertained the kids and It was soooooooo sooooo nice to have them here. I wished it could have been longer. I can't tell you what a difference that made. I love my Parents and can't imagine life without them what a blessing.

PRESCHOOL

Well I am babysitting again. I had a year off and then Shauna got a hold of me and asked me if I would be willing to watch her kids. She just started working at the High School as a Social Studies/ English Teacher. Her husband Darin is Jason's cousin and he teaches 4th grade. Laura is Lyndie's age they are only a few months apart and Tave is 2. I watch Laura and Tave Mon.-Fri. 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is turning out to be a great opportunity. I was wanting to do preschool with Lyndie this year at home so it gives us another 2 students to work with and gives Lyndie some playmates. This was our 2nd week of preschool. Last week was mostly adjusting getting to know each other better we worked on the letter A a little. This week we had lots of fun with the letter "B. We glued Beans on the letter "B" and then made "B"utterflies.

We read Fancy Nancy Bonjour Butterfly and The little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear.

Everyone got their own pile of "B"uttons and we used rummikub tiles we drew out numbers and then had to count out the number of buttons on the tile and put them in a "B"ucket.

Toothless

Jared lost his 2 bottom teeth in one night. They were not very loose but he was excited about the money and the tooth fairy. He let Jason twist and tug on one. Jason pushed and pulled really hard and got the first one out. Jared was so excited. His other one was slightly loose as well so he asked Jason to work his magic on that one and now as you can see he is the Toothless wonder. We are all amazed at how he can be so tough sitting still while Jason wrenches on his teeth but when one of the kids teases torments or bothers him he is the biggest Boob. Oh well! After the teeth came out he asked I heard him say to Cole "it feels so good to have your teeth out doesn't it."

BACK TO SCHOOL

Back to the grind

Wow! Where did the time go. Summer flew by and we now have 5 Isaacsons in school full time. I really did enjoy summer and having them all home (for the most part) but now it's back to the grind and busy schedules. Abbie, Cole and Corey started Monday August 29th Tyler started on Tuesday. Jared didn't start until Thursday because, the First grade did a staggered start so they could test them in small groups to see what they needed to work on. Tyler has another full schedule this year and is taking early morning seminary again. He is a SOPHOMORE. I try not to think about that too much but I did realize he only has less than 4 years until a mission. He could get his learning permit to drive any day but for some reason keeps procrastinating it. What teenage boy does that? Corey is playing football this year he is really excited about that. He had a nasty bike accident just before school started. His big right toe looked like hamburger and his left leg had some giant scratches that were quite deep. He hobbled along for the first week of school. I asked him if he wanted me to rent a wheel chair from the hospital so he could get around easier ( That didn't go over well). Abbie is now in middle school with Corey and growing up fast. She is excited about the teacher she got. Mrs. Nickelson is a wrestling mom and a great fit for our family. She donated lots of empty pop cans and bottles to Tyler last year so he could recycle them for money. Tyler became well known last year for diving through the recycling garbages at the High School. I guess he is confident enough he doesn't care what people think. Everyone really seems to like him at the High School. Every day I picked him up from school he had at least 1 garbage bag full of cans. Cole is going by his first name Aaron at school for the 2nd year in a row he decided to change when we moved here. It was so confusing when his friends call and ask for Aaron. He is in 4th grade and is enjoying being one of the older ones at Greenwood Elementary. Jared only had one day of school this week but is super excited for more. We will see how long that lasts. And my little Lyndie is home with me. I started babysitting again. My break didn't last too long but we needed some extra income and babysitting allows me to be home with her. I am babysitting for Jason's cousin Darin Hendrickson. I am watching his daughter Laura who is 4 Lyndie's age and Tave who is almost 2. I am doing a home preschool with Lyndie and Laura and it is the perfect size. I love having only 2 it allows me to focus on each one more. We do painting, writing, letters, numbers, playdough and all kinds of fun stuff. So this year is going to be a good one.

Happy Halloween !

Jared was a puppy dog and the make up artist was our one and only "Abbie". She got Halloween make up at school for doing well. (not sure i am loving that incentive)

Welcome to our Home

I really do love our new home. It was built in the 80's it is a very well built home but somewhat dark inside. Jason and I plan to do a little updating to brighten things up a bit by painting cabinets and walls. You will see what I mean when you look at the pictures. Here is a tour of our new place please excuse the mess I am still unpacking and trying to find a place for everything but many of our friends and family have asked for pictures so here you have it mess and all.

This is the view of the front of our house. It has a 3 car garage lots of space for storing stuff.

There is a nice storage shed in the back for lawn and gardening stuff and bikes. Plus a spot for keeping our wood.

There is an apple and cherry tree in the right hand side of the picture they are hard to see.

The Kitchen

I have big plans for the kitchen. I want to refinish the cabinets. They are nice but I am wanting to brighten up the room. It is very dark so I want to paint the cabinets white and do something similar to the kitchen on the blog Saw dust and paper scraps click on the link to see what this gal has done. I love her kitchen. I also plan to do an entertainment center on the wall of our living room similar to the one on the same blog under the basement remodel. I love it as well.

The Dining Room

The dining room is just off of the kitchen and has carpet that we are not to excited about. Jason wants to replace it with tile or wood flooring. (chalk it up to the someday list)

The Living Room

The living space in the house is very open you can see the kitchen, dining room and living room standing in any of these rooms they are all connected. I like it in ways but hate that you can see my messy kitchen as soon as you walk in the front door. Which is a silly thing to complain about. It is just good motivator for helping me keep my kitchen cleaner (right). I love having everything on one floor. I like having my family in closer quarters we have to be closer to each other that way.

We decided to put the computer here it is a good open spot where we can monitor what everyone is doing on the computer.

Laundry Room

I love that my laundry room is in a room right off of the kitchen I can shut the door to the mess but hear the buzzer go off when the dryer is done. I don't have to run up and down the stairs for the laundry. ( It is soooo great!)

We planted a little herb garden on the side of the house in a small strip coming up to the front door.

This is the garden spot in the back yard behind the shed and it has a peach tree. We also have an apple and a cherry tree on the north side of the house in the back. We have big plans for our garden but they will have to wait until next year. I am so excited to live in a place that we can grow tomatoes without a green house and we have a Wal-mart (I know some of you are thinking oh brother, but when you have lived in remote places like Afton and Burns for the past 10 years a wal-mart is big). We pulled almost all of weeds out of the garden all ready. It was a big job and Tyler, Corey and Cole were amazingly good helpers. Jason must of threatened them good because they had it almost all done in a day.

Memorial Weekend

We had Grandma and Grandpa Marchant here for the weekend along with Kyle, Amy and their cute kids. We all went to Yellowstone Jason posted pictures of our trip on his blog . Click on his name and it will take you to it. Grandma brought some early Birthday presents for Abbie Cole and Lyndie (our June Birthdays).

Abbie got earrings and a hot pink dress.

Grandma Marchant made this beautiful pink dress for Lyndie all hand crocheted. It is treasure she can keep and pass down to her own girls. The work is amazing. Our girls are so blessed to have two grandma's that make beautiful dresses and are so talented. Thank you Mom for making this. I love it and the pictures don't do it justice it is gorgeous.

Abbie also got a birthday dress so we had to get pictures of the girls together.

Cole got Star wars guys and a Cute suit for church I need to get a picture of him in it. He looks very handsome.

Have a cup of hot chocolate or should I say chocolate syrup!

Lyndie looooooooves Chocolate even more than I do (Be quiet Jason) I know that it doesn't seem possible. But, I think there is actually someone out there that does and its your daughter. Anyway, I should know better than to leave the Can of Hot chocolate mix on the table by her after mixing up a cup for her. Oh brother and I just don't learn because this is not the first time we have ended up with chocolate soup. I think the Book Polar express sums this one up when it talks about the Hot Chocolate being as thick and rich as melted chocolate bars. I think we could probably scrape this out of the cup put it in a pan and bake up some brownies.

Christmas Dresses

I love this picture just had to share it. Grandma Isaacson made these beautiful dresses for the girls as well as dresses for her other 4 grandaughters it was a lot of late nights getting all the dresses finished before christmas. And not to mention a lot of work. What a neat surprise! These dresses are so well made and there is nothing better than a handmade gift sewn with lots of love by Grandma! THANK YOU GRANDMA.

Cannon Beach

We went to the Oregon Coast for the Isaacson Family Rendezvous July 27th-30th We stayed in a house on the beach and it fit the whole Isaacson clan pretty well. We went to Cannon Beach and walked around it was very humid and misty which made for some fun pictures. We lost Abbie at the beach for a good half hour and everyone looked around franticly Jason found her alone crying. She managed to get quite a ways from us. It was such a relief to find her. And other than that experience we had a great time. We toured the Tillamook cheese factory which was really cool ( I recommend it). We stopped at the Tillamook smokehouse for pepperoni sticks and sausage. We had to get 7lbs. of salt water taffy, which did not last long. The Salt water taffy is the best on the coast and the shop we got it at, Bruce's candy kitchen, makes all the taffy there. We ate taffy until we were sick.

The girls went shopping at the outlet stores in Lincoln city for school clothes. It was loads of fun.

Janzten and Grandpa Isaacson's Birthdays were the 29th. To celebrate we ate crab that the guys and kids caught from a boat they rented. The crabs were not meaty at all they caught probably 25 and we got about 2 cups of meat off of them ( wrong time of year to catch crabs). But we got just enough for everyone in our big group to have a small taste that wanted some. It was lots of fun .

The girls went shopping at the outlet stores in Lincoln city for school clothes.

The Bonneville Fish Hatchery

We made a stop at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery on the Columbia River on our way home from the coast. The grounds were amazing. They were so well taken care of. It was beautiful. A definite worth while stop. We fed the giant rainbow trout. The kids were in awe at the big trout, until we made it to the last pool with the sturgeon. Holy Cow! They were enormous.

The last pool was the most impressive. It had the Enormous Sturgeon

Grandpa Isaacson is trying to touch it here. I also got to touch it. It was a bit eery to see them after just watching shark attacks on the Discovery Channel that same week. I know they are not sharks but when they are swimming in the water their top fins come out of the water much like a shark.

If you look closely you can see the sturgeons fin coming out of the water (like a shark) by the log .

One of the Sturgeon in this pool is named Herman. He was around 80 years old and around 500 pounds and over 10 feet long. The sturgeon can get to be over 20 feet long and can weigh 1800 pounds.

Jared's Birthday

I just realized we only got video clips of jared's Birthday and no pictures so here is a short video of his birthday. He is wearing a lovely coon skin cap in the film ( One of his birthday gifts we got in Yellowstone). Jason took a picture of Jared'with birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Marchant. He got cowboy stuff as you can see. Later Jared got cowboy boots from Grandpa and Grandma Isaacson. He is really loving the Cowboy stuff and wears his boots all the time.

Our Teenager

I can't believe we now have a teenager. I must be getting old. Tyler is such a great Teen to start the teen years out with though. He is such a great brother and helper.

Ty got this Jack O Connor book He says it's his all time favorite. He ready to join Jack's fan club.

We celebrated Tyler's Birthday with Adam and Emily's Family. Tyler wanted dutch oven chocolate cherry cobbler and homemade ice cream.

We played a mean trick on Tyler this year we went to Idaho Falls with Cole and Tyler's Birthday list to shop for them and told Tyler we must of mixed up his list with Cole's because we bought him Transformers. Ty was not pleased he was really wanting fishing gear ( is he his father's son or what?) Anyway Poor Ty was not too excited about his birthday. When he opened his presents he was so surprised to find fishing gear. I don't think he will ever believe us again. He was such a good sport about it.

This is a video of Tyler opening his presents and he is trying so hard not to cry and be happy he is getting transformers. Unfortunately Abbie was the one video taping so most of the video is of Tyler's hands and you can't see his facial expressions but you get the main idea from listening to what Tyler says.

Tyler was soooo happy to get fishing gear instead of transformers.

Attack of the Kitchen Beaters

The other day I was making a breakfast dinner of waffles with strawberry sauce, Baccon and eggs. Jason was gone to wrestling camp for the week and I was left to "hold up the fort". I had a lot going on in the kitchen and multi-tasking was becoming chaotic. So I asked Tyler to help me whip up the egg whites with the beaters for the Waffles. It takes a long time to get the egg whites to form stiff peaks like the recipe calls for. Tyler soon got tired of this job and managed to con his sister into doing it. Abbie was thrilled she grabbed the beaters and started giving tips to Tyler on how to do it right. All of the sudden Abbie started screaming a very high pitched death scream. I turned around to find her with the beaters wrapping themselves up in her hair. I ran over and tried to turn off the mixer but the panic mode set in and I couldn't quite find the off button fast enough. I managed to get it turned off but the beater had done an amazing job of wrapping her hair around itself. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it before. Her hair was wrapped so tightly around the beaters I couldn't get the beaters to eject and they were pressed up against her head so tight they were making indentions into her scalp. Through all the screaming I managed to get her to the living room chair. Abbie kept saying "get it off, get it off!" and "I just can't do this." she did not want me to cut her hair at first but as time went on and my attempts to save her hair were not working and the pain was increasing she decided to resort to having me cut her hair. I was sick about it. I went to get the scissors. I just pictured her with her whole left front side of her head with her hair gone. This would be similar to being scalped by an Indian in the days of the pioneers. This was not just a few strands of hair and it was right to her scalp. I couldn't bare to cut it so I tried one more time. Amazingly one small strand came lose and I was able to eject the beaters. Once the beaters ejected her hair untangled in a matter of seconds. She some how lost a small patch of hair on the top of her head but it wasn't to noticeable. I guess some one was watching out for her. The funny thing was I could not find the patch of hair any where. It wasn't until we were eating dinner that Abbie some how found the missing piece hanging with the rest of her hair. Abbie managed to make it through this attack with only a few bruises and a small piece of hair missing. I guess this is why they teach you to put your hair in a ponytail when working in the Kitchen in Home ec. I am still puzzled about how she got her hair caught in the beaters in the first place. "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME."

A Birthday Marathon

Okay, so what were we thinking? We have five birthdays all within in a two months time span. It is like Christmas in June and July all over again. Family planning was not on our priorty list when we started having children. (Why did I not think about it) Abbie starts this birthday Marathon out June 1st. Then Cole and Lyndie are next June 24th and June 25th followed by Tyler on July 6th and Jared on July 13th. I am tired just thinking about it. Yes, that's right Cole and Lyndie are a day apart and we celebrated their Birthdays on the 24th. ( I know we are evil parents) But Cole and Lyndie didn't mind. We had Adam and Emily's family over. Cole and Lyndie opened presents and then we had homemade ice cream and homemade rootbeer.

Lyndie Jean

Lyndie turned 2 on the 25th she hasn't changed a ton. She has us all wrapped around her little finger. She just bats her little eyes at Tyler and Corey and they melt. They would do anything for her.

This is the Jacket and outfit Grandpa and Grandma Isaacson sent Lyndie. She loved the jacket and didn't want to take it off even though it was Hot out.

Adam and Emily got Lyndie a stuffed Horse. She was in Heaven since she loves to suck her fingers and rub hair. The Horse has great hair to rub.

Here are a couple of her baby pictures. Not much has changed her hair is maybe a millimeter longer. She adds so much to our family and we have decided that she completes this family unit. What a blessing to have her.

Aaron Cole

Cole turned 7 on the 24th. He is such a nut. We took him out for his Birthday dinner a tradition my parents started with us growing up. The Birthday kid gets to choose a place to eat out with just Mom and Dad. Cole chose the Fish place here in town. We took him out and talk about showing no emotion. We asked him questions about how he liked his dinner. " Oh, its good" He didn't say it with any sort of excitement. Some times its hard to tell if he is having a good time. I had to laugh before we went out to eat we cooked Corndogs and pizza for the other kids and Cole asked if they would save him a Corndog. He order coconut shrimp at the fish place and ate it pretty good but when we got home amazingly there was a corndog left and he ate it. I guess we could have just stayed home and had corndogs and he would have been just as happy. But it was fun to go out with him and spend time with just him. I have loved doing this with all the kids. It's been a special time to get to be with just them.

Cole got a spring action star wars light saber, A Coonskin cap and some transformers.

Smurfette

I was reading the Edge chronicles to Abbie and Cole in the living room on Sunday. Tyler found Smurfette hiding behind the chair with a blue marker. Oh Boy! We were amazed at all the places we found blue on her body (Her feet and between her toes). She is destined to be an artist.

A Home made salon

Cole's friend, our neighbor, dyed his hair. He told Cole you just get your hair wet, then go out in the light and your hair changes colors. (Probably a sun bleaching dye of some sort) Well Cole decided he wanted "white locks" like his buddy, so he came home, wet his hair in the sink, turned on the living room light and then stood there for quite some time waiting for his hair to turn color. He asked me to check to see if it had changed yet, that is how I found out what he was doing. His "home remedy" for lighter hair didn't work. Funny how a 6 year olds perspective and explanation can be completely misinterpreted and implemented by another 6 year old!

Bryce Canyon

We went to Bryce Canyon National Park with everyone while we where in Beaver here are a few of the millions of pictures we took. We did Yellowstone last weekend and Bryce's this weekend. Tons of fun! It was beautiful. The Colors are amazing in Bryce's it is my favorite National Park. It was neat to get to take the kids for their first time. The weather was so perfect not too hot like it can get in Bryce's and not too cold. We took jackets and Lyndie wore a coat for some of the time. All the kids hiked even Lyndie did some hiking they all did really well. We hiked about 3 1/2 miles on the Navajo trail.

More beautiful scenery

Behind Tyler and I is a giant pine tree growing on Bryce's Wall street. It is amazing to see a tree growing between the huge walls that seem to scrape the sky much like the skyscraper building I imagine are on wall street.
Behind me is a huge drop off that goes down several hundred feet I was trying to do a pose for a trick photography picture for Jason and hold Lyndie at the same time. I was afraid I was going to drop Lyndie and my stomach was doing somersaults. Jason couldn't understand why I was being a chicken until he climb up to where I was and saw how far down the drop off was. The three rocks behind me are much farther away than they appear.
I thought this tree was really cool the way it was growing. Almost like it was trying to stand on its tip toes if it had toes.
Kassidy got to ride in the backpack most of the time but didn't really like the idea of it at first.

Beaver

Sorry about the massive amount of pictures. We were in Beaver this last weekend to visit Mom and Dad and see Kevin and Kent and their families before they take off to Dental and Pharmaceutical school. Kent and Melanie are off to Boston Massachusetts at the end of August. Kevin and Robyn are going to San Francisco. It was so fun to see everyone. We also got to see Kurt and Whitney. We went on a picnic on Saturday up to Kent's Lake in the Beaver Mountains. Melanie Kent's wife who is 6 months pregnant was having some sharp pains in her side. It all started happening the night before they came and the pain just kept getting worse. Kent, Kevin and Dad gave her a blessing and Kent took her to the Beaver hospital. All is well thank goodness! Mel had a Kidney infection and is doing much better now. We all played around fished, canoed on the lake, and rode horses.

Jared was Grandpa's little sidekick. Grandpa found this hat for Jared to wear and he wore it all weekend. Jared loved the horses and spent most of his time riding.

Kurt had a rubber band war with Tyler, Corey and Cole.

There were plenty of wrestling matches.

While everyone was resting we decided to give the horses a rest as well. Jared and Cole were'nt up for that idea they hopped onto the horses and sat there for about a half hour. Cole would ask every once in a while "have the had enough resting." They were hard core for the horse back riding.

Yellowstone

After fishing Jackson Lake on Memorial day we headed to Yellowstone. We had such a nice time just wandering around looking at all the beautiful colors.

We all took turns packing Lyndie around because we forgot the stroller and the backpack.

Fishing at Jackson Lake

For Memorial Day weekend we all stayed home expect for Jason he went to Lagoon on friday with the junior class for work (boy life is rough sometimes). Adam and Emily left Addalee, Jacob and Erick with us while they went to state soccer. We had a total of 9 kids here (never a dull moment). Corey and Cole were sick with colds and fevers. They both slept most of the weekend. Saturday Jason and Tyler went to Jackson Lake fishing while the rest of us stayed home and got nice and sunburned especially poor Erick since I missed a sunscreen application for him when all the kids decided to put on swimsuits. Addalee had a bike accident and hurt her hand Emily took her to the Doctor later that week and they did an X-ray. Addalee's hand was okay (thank goodness). So the weekend was full of excitement. I was expecting someone to show up with a straight jacket and take me a way to a nice quiet room somewhere but it never happened. Instead, sunday Adam and Emily picked up there kids. And over all it was not so bad we had lots of fun with the other Afton Isaacsons and everyone survived with minimal wounds . Monday was our free family day (no extra kids) and we were all needing a break from the house So off to Jackson Lake and Yellowstone we went. Tons of Fun! A much needed break. We took a cooler full of food and started off on our excursion around 5:00 a.m. that morning. The kids had a blast fishing and throwing rocks at Jackson Lake. Corey, Tyler and Jared all caught fish. Here are the picture of our Trip. ( I know it surprising to see more fishing pictures on this blog)

Lyndie cried a lot ( I know surprising) she wanted to walk around but kept loosing her balance on the big rocks that covered the ground. But when she was in Dad's arms with the fishing pole the tears stopped magically.

Lyndie did not love trying to walk on these big rocks. She tripped into the lake face first almost immediately and things just went down hill for her from then on out. She got her face and an arm up to the shoulder wet when she tripped. Mom had to save her.

3 Billy Goats Gruff

Cole's class did the play 3 Billy Goats Gruff. Cole was a frog in the play and did not want me to take his picture. During the play whenever he saw me with the camera he would turn his head. It was tricky getting any pictures of him at all. What a stinker.

Tyler with our catch!

Jackson Lake finally is free of ice and Tyler and I took advantage of it yesterday. Corey was supposed to go with us, but he has been sick the last few days, even missing school. It takes a lot for Corey to miss anything because he doesn't like to be left out, especially fishing. Watching the videos we brought home and seeing the fish was pure TORTURE for him. Especially since he felt so much better that afternoon.

We fished from 6:30 am till 11:30 with 10 fish hooked and 5 landed. Most of the fish were hooked before 9 am. The sun hit the water around 8:30 and the fishing, for us bank fisherman, dropped off soon after. We had hits up until we left, but they wouldn't grab the spoon, so we couldn't catch them.

Tyler out fished me again. He and Corey out fished me in November of last year when we went to Jackson Lake for the first time with my Venture Scout Troop. I caught the biggest fish on this trip (a 22 inch Lake trout), but he landed the most (3-two lakers and a brown). We both lost nice Lake trout at the bank along with some long distance releases out in the middle of the bay. My brown was 16 inches and his was 15.

We had a nice morning and saw 500 elk or more on the way up. They are scattered from Antelope Flat, north of Jackson Hole, to Moran Junction. We saw deer, one moose, and a grouse ran across the highway in front of us just after daylight. We were way out in the flats in the sage brush, just above the Snake River where it winds under the Teton Range, its kind of an odd place for a grouse.

We fished heavy spoons deep and slow and the fish hit pretty soft. We hope to go back on Monday (Memorial Day). Jared and Lyndie had to get in on the pictures with Tyler when we got back. Jared loves to fish and likes posing for pictures no matter if he caught them or not. Lyndie wasn't too sure about the slime, but she liked the fish.

Jason's Lagoon Trip

I went to the Lagoon amusement park in SLC, Utah, on Friday with our junior class. I rode the crazy rides and made some video of them. I used our new little Flip video camera. It was a good day. The lines weren't too long, the weather was nice, and it was free for me! What more could you ask for?

The first video is of the Wicked roller coaster. I'm not on it, I just wanted you to see what it looks like. It is the best ride ever. You climb to 110 feet, then drop down the other side! There is a corkscrew, 50 feet off the ground, and some fast, high banking turns!

The 2nd video is me riding it. 8 teachers went on the trip to help with the 150 kids we had. We, as teachers, rode together for the first time. I went on this one 4 or 5 times before we left. I did less screaming each time I went on it. This is the first time through and the drop down the other side was a little TENSE! The bright, purplish dot that appears occasionally is the sun. I held on to the camera and the cart for dear life the first few times through. The last time through I left the camera in my pocket and rode the whole way without hands!

Not that you wanted to see the look on my face as I ride THE WICKED, but here is the same ride with a different view! The corkscrew footage is pretty good.

This next video is of me on the Colossus Fire Dragon roller coaster. It has a double loop; fun and thrilling, but definately not WICKED! Once again, the purplish, bright disk is the sun. NOTICE HOW HIGH I AM BEFORE DROPPING INTO THE TWO LOOPS!

This last video is of the Blast Off ride. You go from the ground to 200 feet in 2 seconds, make a change in directions and then free fall 150 feet, only to be lifted again. Supposedly you experience 4.5 G's (gravity=9.8 meters per second squared--multiplied by 4.5) on the initial drop from hitting the top. I didn't realize it was possible to chew on your colon until I rode this thing! The ride hurts, in a fun-kind-of-way; it'll make you giggle! The video is made to show the acceleration of the ride up, and then the fall down. So you are looking between my feet as I sit on the ride. Watch the #5 on the ground.

Adam and Emily's kids came over after school the other day. I told the kids they had to get their homework done before they could play this is what I found in the living room. ( It's a good thing they have small buns.) I couldn't believe they could both fit on the chair and I guess it was comfortable because they were there for about an hour. Easter

Our easter was a bit hectic we were in the middle of getting our house looking nice for an appraiser to come. We are in the process of refinancing our home to get into a 30 year fix rate of 4.375% which is why I haven't posted for so long. Anyway we went to the town easter egg hunt (don't think I'll do that again). I took all the kids myself while Jason worked on putting in tile in our basement. There were so many people there and not really enough eggs. We had our own easter egg hunt at home and dyed eggs.

Feed the Birds

(If you build it they will come)

Jason made a bird feeder and put it up in our front yard with the help of Ty. We stocked it with black sunflower seed and have had hundreds of birds at it everyday they stay in our aspen trees and fly down to feed. We can look out our living room window and the boy's bedroom window and watch them. The kids have really enjoy watching them. There are so many birds that it is quite noisy when you go outside our front door. We have even see a few bird fights. We have all been able to get up right next to the bird feeder and have some of the birds stay there some of us have even touched the birds. It has been a lot of fun.

Lyndie had to help as well. She found the gloves and hat herself and put them on. We don't believe in coats in star valley if the weather is not below zero which is why no one is wearing coats. We did this the first week of April notice how much snow we still had. You got to love Star Valley.

I was able to stand right next to the bird feeder and get some neat pictures. These birds are called Pine Siskins. We also had some Evening Grosbeaks and some Cassin's Finch which have a pretty red head.

Spring Break

We went to La Grande for spring break and took the cold Afton weather with us. It rained and snowed most of the time. We were told not to come back if we bring weather like that again. We had one day of good weather and the boys took advantage they bought steelhead tags and went fishing on the Wallowa River. Jason Tyler and Corey woke up at 6:00 a.m. to go fishing and came home at 9:00 p.m. They had one very long day of fishing and Tyler and Corey did not want to quit. They did not catch many and are die hard fisherman.

Ooooh! Kiss a fish. Cole and Jared kissed the fish Jason caught for luck. Yuck!

We went to Sarah and Matt's house and got to see all the work they have done on their addition It looked great and it was so nice to see them and their cute kids. It was a great vacation.

Cooking Diasters

Abbie made some Ramen Noodles for her and the other kids. She let the noodles cook too long and the water evaporated out of the pan. The noodles were big and slimy. She dished up the noodles for all the kids who wanted them. I over heard the conversation. They all decided the noodles were digusting even Abbie agreed. Lyndie however, kept eating them. Cole explained the reason for this was because she did not have taste buds yet and we do. Corey took one look at his noodles and said,"Oooooh, gross these don't even have any broth in them that means they don't have any favor." Cole said, "Oh, they have plenty of flavor they just don't taste good." Abbie cooks Ramen Noodles almost as bad as I cook grilled cheese sandwiches. Jason doesn't believe I know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich without burning it. I made some pancakes the other day that were really dark on one side and perfect on the other. Tyler said "Mom were you thinking you were making your grilled cheese sandwiches or something."

Wrestling in Cokeville

We took the boys to Cokeville for a little league wrestling tournament yesterday.(March 12, 2009)

This was their second tournament and for some dumb reason Cokeville did not have a 7th-8th grade division so Tyler did not get to wrestle this time. He was a little bummed but he made a great assistant coach for the littler boys.

These two pictures of Corey are of his last match. I did not get to see the Other matches they split the preschool-2nd grade from the 3rd-6th grade so Ty and I went to help Cole and Jared. Corey won this match by a pin.

Corey wrestled Daine Waldron a second time this year at this tournament. Daine is also from Star Valley and from a big time wrestling family. His Dad coached in Juab and is the coach for our Junior High currently. Corey and Daine went into over time (sudden death) in their match here and Daine beat Corey by two points. It was intense they are both good competitors. Tyler Wrestled Daine's older brother Gabe last weekend in Evanston and barely lost as well it was also a great match. Our boys are learning lots and having fun. We feel fortunate to have the waldron's here to challenge our boys.

COLE

Cole Wrestled Preston (I don't remember his last name) for a second time as well. They wrestled each other in Evanston last week. I went to school with Preston's mom, Angela, it was fun to see her. She and her husband live in Hennefer with their 3 boys and 1 girl.

Cole is a scrappy little wrestler and does a great job.

Cole lost this match. This kid was quick and one year older than Cole. Cole fought hard and did awesome.

COACHING FROM DAD

Jason did pretty darn good coaching the boys these past few weeks after going from the High School to little league. It is not easy for him to tone it down with the littler guys, I was proud

of him though he is fun to watch. (As you can see Lyndie is not super happy here either she was done with it all.)

International Day at Girl Scouts

Abbie's girl scout troop had an international day and each troop learned about different countries and presented the information to the rest of the girls. Abbie's group learned about Japan. Abbie has some awesome leaders that really go all out. I think she has really enjoyed girl scouts. It has been a great experience for her.

Recipe for GAK

Here's what you need :

2 cups white elmer's glue

4 teaspoons borax (you can find this in the

laundry detergent section of wal-mart It's in a green box.)

1 1/3 cups warm water

Here's what you do:

1. In a large bowl combine glue and 2 1/2 cups water

2. In a separate bowl combine Borax and 1 1/3 cups water

3. Add Borax water to glue water and mix.

Here is the trick when you put the two mixtures together just keep mixing and kneading it. It doesn't look right at first, it is very runny but just keep mixing it and over time it will form a big ball of slimy dough. I threw the first batch I ever made away because it didn't look right. I just needed to keep kneading it in the bowl and it would have worked. ( chalk it up for experience .)

GAK!

This is the favorite in our house. Slimy play dough.

Made from Elmer's glue, water, borax and food coloring

for color. It is hours and hours of fun. It lasts about 3 months

if you store it in Ziploc bags.

The kids love to squish this stuff in cups it makes a farting

noise that makes them laugh so hard. (Boy what they won't

think of next!)

We went to Vernal for clayton's blessing he is the newest member of the Marchant family and Kyle and Amy's youngest. Their son clint is extremely happy to have a brother. Can you blame him living in a house of mostly girls. What a cute family they are I wish I would have taken a picture of their whole family. Clay is very cute and a good baby.

I guess he needed to work on keeping the under arm odor under control so Tyler's deodorant did the trick. As soon as I walked in Jared threw down the deodorant and said sorry Mom.( How do you not laugh at that?) I guess he thought he was in trouble. Just don't tell Tyler. Read Me a Story PLEEEEEEEEASE Ty!

Lyndie has Tyler wrapped around her little finger. She loves to be read to and brought her favorite book "TheBig Hungry Bear" to Tyler and handed it to him. Batted her eyelashes and he couldn't resist.

Grandma Isaacson got this book for christmas for Lyndie. It is the new favorite along with any book that has animals especially puppies.

RRRRRRROOOAR! Lyndie has to growl when it talks about the big hungry bear and will have a growling contest with you to see who is loudest. She is LOUD! And, hard to beat.

Buzz Lightyear

Cole's teacher has this fun little project she does each year with her kids. This Buzz light year doll is passed around the class so each kid gets a turn taking Buzz home and showing him what they do after school. Then the kids write about it in a book and draw pictures or have their Mom's take pictures of what they did. Then they return the book to school. Well it was Cole's turn. His teacher said " Cole are you ready to take Buzz home. " "NO" he said. He did not want to do it. I talked to his teacher tonight at the A.R. reading they have for the first graders. She said this is the first time ever any of the kids have said no. The kids in his class couldn't believe he didn't want to either. I am still trying to figure it out. Cole got in the car after school and said. I hate Buzz he is wimpy. But he brought him home anyway. He read stories to him played computer games and let buzz help him bring in wood. He even drew a picture of him. He seemed to enjoy doing it but wouldn't admit it. He refused to take him to the A.R. reading night. He did not want to be seen in public with him and still claims Buzz is wimpy . Is it possible to hit adolesence seven years early. Oh boy!

THE BIGGEST ISAACSON FISH

Tyler's Pike

So maybe this should have been the hunting

fishing blogspot. This seems to be the only

activities the nuthouse people know how to do.

Tyler and corey insisted that I post these pictures

taken during the summer of 2007 in Beaver at

grandpa and grandma Marchant's house. Uncle Kurt

had some sweet connections and set the boys up with

a fishing experience to remember. They caught these

on a friends pond in Beaver.

ICE FISHING

with the Isaacson troop

We were invited to ice fish on a lake of a really good friends.

It was a beautiful sunny day around 40 degrees and if it

weren't for the wind it would have been perfect. The kids

were in heaven and even though it was bitter cold from

the wind Tyler, Corey and Cole did not once stop to come

and get warm in the car.

Abbie was a great little fisherwoman and her

patience paid off she caught a whopper.

Jared fishing! Jared had more fun rolling in the snow doing summersaults and reeling in his line. Jason finally just gave up trying to help him catch a fish he was more interested in reeling in the line.

Whoa!! I know what you are thinking "where can I get a sweet looking camo suit just like that one." Well it is one of a kind and warm too. I'm sure everyone will be rushing out to find one just like it. My fishing trip was of course wrestling Lyndie and trying to keep her warm. So I stayed with Lyndie in the car most of the time. It was much warmer there and I am not one for cold and windy weather and neither is Lyndie. Thank goodness I was not a Pioneer.

Lyndie did what she does best (sucked her fingers, rubbed her doll's hair and fell asleep)

We have found if she has a doll with hair around she doesn't have to pull mom's out. She has two dolls she loves and she's holding them both in this picture. She not quite a fisherwoman yet.

Marker Madness

If you were every wondering what someone would look like after eating a black marker well there you have it. I love Lyndie. Why do I always worry when there is silence in our home?

At least the marker was nontoxic and washable. I am not sure about the taste but this is not the first marker consumed by Lyndie so maybe that tells you something.

NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE

BED!

Jared was jumping on our bed and rammed his face into the board that goes across our window. He hit so hard that his nose swelled up and he got two black eyes. We put ice on it much to his dismay, but it helped the swelling some. So this is why they say no more monkeys jumping on the bed. Ouch!

Bubbles

Recipe for a Sweet bubble bath: From the bathroom of the Isaacsons

Ingredients

One tub full of water

One full bottle of shampoo

One Sweet litttle girl

directions: mix ingredients all together and enjoy!

Note to me ( make sure the shampoo is put away before adding the sweet little girl if you don't want her to have a bubble bath or to use all the shampoo)

Fishing Fun?????

This is Treyson my sister Kelli's oldest son. I took this picture a year or so ago after Kurt and Whitney were married our whole family went up to the Beaver mountains fishing. Kyle caught a fish and Treyson ran over to pick it up. It started flapping around and he was not expecting it. He started screaming and I couldn't help it I laughed so hard I just about peed my pants. What a cute kid.

Abbie Jo makes me laugh and want to pull my hair out at the same time. I don't know what I would do with out her. She is so full of life and driven by curiosity and has to try out everything. she is very loving and just wants lots of attention. I am so thankful for her and hope I can survive her!!!!!

Nephite Warrior

These pictures capture Tyler's personality they were taken this summer. Tyler is our wood craving fool he is constantly whittling some type of weapon. Our backyard was full of wood chips from Tyler. He managed to leave wood chips where ever we went and when we visited relatives they had lots of proof that the Isaacsons had been there. Tyler wants me to let everyone know he has carved swords, bows, arrows, spears, clubs, a mace and chain, axes and knives. Sometimes I would look out the kitchen window and find him battling some imaginary orc. I pity the fool who messes with Ty.

A Winter wonderland!

So we get a little snow in Star Valley this picture was taken in the fall when we got dumped on. Jason and Cole went out to shake the trees off. Leaves had not fallen off the trees yet and we didn't want the branches to get broken with the weight of the snow on the leaves. Cole stood under the trees as Jason shook them off and this is what happened. He makes one cute cone head.

Extreme Exhaustion

Our church time switched to 1:00 and lyndie is not exactly adjusting yet. Her nap time usually starts at 12:30 or 1:00 so nap time doesn't exist on Sunday. We got home this sunday and started working on dinner to feed the hungry masses and couldn't find Lyndie. She crashed in the hallway on the hard tile floor. Nursery was exhausting I guess.

Jared got a new CTR Ring in primary. He was wearing it all around and showing everyone. He showed it to Jason. Jason asked him " What does CTR mean?" "I don't know" was Jared's answer. Jason explained "It means Choose the Right." "Oh, well I don't want to do that," Jared replied.

Halloween

Halloween was a crazy rush we went to 2 trunk or treats and in the mad rush we forgot to get corey's picture. He was a Football player. Abbie was supposed to be an old Grandma she doesn't look real old though. She used a wig our primary secretary made for a lip sync dance the Primary presidency had to do about a Grandma going down the mountain on her little ole lie he who. ( I got to be the grandma and that is a story for another day.) The kids got an extreme overdose of candy and sugar because we also went to the Care center and all the sweet old people there loaded them up with candy as well. I am always glad to have Halloween done with.

Cole wanted to be Darth Maul for Halloween this year. He was that last year also we googled Darth Maul on the internet to find a picture of what he looked like then we painted his face to look like Darth. I don't know if I should worry that he is wanting to be a bad guy or not.

Hardcore Fisherman

Tyler has become the hardcore fisherman for our family and likes me to take him out to the Salt River and leave him there even in the extreme cold. He did decide he has his limits however after I took him and a friend on one freezing cold day in December and dropped him off (he begged to do this). The wind was blowing and it was so cold I kept saying are you sure you want to do this. I picked him up about a half hour later. He and his friend were so cold that they didn't even get any fishing done . They just sat there freezing and I felt really bad. Tyler did not want me to tell about that experience so I will tell you he is one good fisherman and can tell the best fishing lie I mean story around. He caught this fish on Great Grandpa Marchant's in Peoa on the Weber River with his Uncle Kyle in the evening this was the biggest fish he caught that day.

Body Art!

This picture is of some artwork Jared decided he needed to do on himself. Don't get me wrong but being a mother of 6 kids makes me really appreciate "silence" expect in the case when silence is followed by an awful gut feeling that someone is up to something. I seem to have those moments often with Jared hence the body art.

Jared is crazy and lots of fun this picture is of Jared's Tiger face that I painted for him at the park. I was asked to help paint faces for Cole's kindergarten for their field day. Jared insisted on having his face painted as well.

I Know this may not look safe but it is a great punishment to make your kid stand on the table legs of a table for several hours. I will say childrens services tend to frown on this for some odd reason. Jared was entertaining us all with his balancing skills and we didn't have any major injuries from this experience amazingly enough. The other pictures are just of Jared being Jared. He makes the goofiest faces and its so hard to do a family picture with him and not have him do some quirky look. Oh well we just decided not to try any more and just go with the goofy pictures. It is not fun to have Jason as the photographer however, he doesn't know how to relax and laugh about it. By the time we are done with family pictures Jason is fuming and I am sitting in the car vowing never to do it again.
